Expansionist, Investors and Entrepreneurs for 6th AfA — Mozambique

6th Angel Fair Africa — Expansion Panel

In its 6th year, Angel Fair Africa is introducing an “expansion panel” which would be led by Shola Akinlade of Paystack, Nigeria who have raised $8M, David Waithaka of Cellulant, Kenya who have raised $47.5M and Marcello Schermer of Yoco, South Africa who have raised $16M; all to expand their operations — the panel would be moderated by Ian Ziddah from Ghana after the keynote fireside chat with Daniel David of DHD Holdings.

Aaron Fu of MEST Africa, Danai Musando of Goodwell Investments, Antonio Souto of GAPI and Nuno Quelhas of AMBA would be sharing their investment experiences on the investors panel after the opening keynote fireside chat with Kamran Elahian of Global Catalyst Partners.

The entrepreneur’s panel would see Craig McLeod of Build, Barclay Okari of FinAccess and Titos Munhequete of Izy who have all raised early stage capital to build their ventures sharing their experiences with Juscelina Guiringane of ANJE, their moderstor.

Akshay Grover of ISON Group and Eston Kimani of Ideas Come To Life would be sharing their multiple exit experiences whiles Alcino Michaque of BVM would share the exit experiences they have had on the Mozambique stock market with Virginia Macuiiane of Imbondeiro who would be moderating the exit panel.

All this would be taking place at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Maputo, Mozanbique from the 29th to 30th November 2018 with investors and entrepreneurs from the US, Middle East, Europe, Asia and Africa. Twenty entrepreneurs have been selected from Mozambique, Kenya, Angola, Tanzania, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Investors for the event will include members of Angel Africa List, AMBA — Mozambican Business Angels Association, Jozi Angels, ABPA — Associação Portuguesa de Business Angels, Tanzania Angel Investor Network, TVCN — Tanzania Venture Capital Network, New Generation Angels, African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association and Angel Capital Association.

The event which has been held in Johannesburg (SA) 2013, Lagos (Nigeria) 2014, Accra (Ghana) 2015, Nairobi (Kenya) 2016 and Abidjan (Cote D’Ivoire) 2017 resulting in about $23M worth of deals.

Angels Fair Africa is presented by Chanzo Capital, a growth capital firm investing in high-tech startups and scaleups in Africa, in partnership with AMBA — Mozambican Business Angels Association, a newly created association to financially support local initiatives, and ideiaLab, a Mozambican company founded in 2010 to inspire entrepreneurs, support the development of startups, accelerate the growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and promote entrepreneurship and innovation in the country and continent.

ideiaLab has supported the selection of the entrepreneurs that will participate in this year’s event, in collaboration with Startupbootcamp, Acelera Angola, Sahara Ventures, mHub, SW7, MIT IDE, Seed Stars Africa and MEST.
